From Hometown Kitchens to City Tables

Regional Filipino flavors find a home across the metro.

The Philippines has always been best explored through its food. The tang of a comforting broth can call Iloilo to mind, coconut and lemongrass can recall the flavors of Capiz, and a richly seasoned dish can lead the imagination to Pampanga.

Across the metro, these restaurants make it possible to travel through the country one table at a time:

Abé

At Abé, Kapampangan cooking comes through in generous, deeply familiar flavors. Biringhe brings sticky turmeric rice cooked in coconut milk, while Sinuteng Baby Squid and Abé’s Farm Sisig add smoky, savory character to the table. For dessert, Sikreto ni Maria Clara layers suman with macapuno, ripe mangoes, and vanilla ice cream. Upper Ground Floor, The Shoppes at Park McKinley West.

Sip the Shift: Minute Maid Nutri+ Brings a Fresher Take for Young Filipinos’ Mornings

You wake up. You scroll. You commute. You eat lunch while answering messages. You scroll again. If this sounds familiar, you're not alone. For many Filipinos—especially students, young professionals, and creatives navigating packed days—mornings don't always feel like a fresh start. Instead, they often feel like a slow drag.

Call it the "morning meh": that low-energy fog that settles in before the day even begins. It shows up during the commute, at the breakfast table, during the lunch break nobody actually took. It's neither burnout nor a crisis. It's just... blah, but it still quietly shapes how the rest of the day unfolds.

Small resets, big shifts

Here's the thing: you don't need a dramatic life overhaul to shake off the meh. Small intentional moments, whether it’s a song that actually slaps on the commute, a hearty meal eaten without a screen, or a sip of something cold and citrusy, can gently tip the mood in a better direction.

Think of it as zest as a mindset, not just a flavor. These micro-resets may not solve everything, but they help pull you out of autopilot, even for a minute. And sometimes, a minute is enough to turn the day around.

Small Sips, Big Shifts: How Filipino Vitalisers Are Turning Ordinary Pauses Into Zest Moments

Mornings today rarely ease you in. They begin with alarms that feel too early, inboxes already filling up, and to-do lists that seem to stretch endlessly. For many Filipinos, especially young professionals and students, this pace has morning and midday slumps feel like part of the routine.

But instead of simply pushing through midday slumps, a growing number are turning to small, intentional rituals to reset their mood and regain momentum. Simple pleasures like enjoying a zesty glass of Minute Maid Nutri+ are becoming part of how people reclaim their day, one moment at a time.

For this generation of vitalisers, wellness now comes in the form of smaller, more human-sized terms that are actually doable. No more lifestyle overhauls. Instead, small rituals like quick walk breaks or a few minutes of journaling is all they need to create space and regain a sense of control in otherwise packed schedules.

Love languages of fatherhood served with Ihaw-Sarap and Unli-Saya!

How Filipino dads show they care with Mang Inasal grilled favorites

Fatherhood is often expressed not through grand declarations, but through quiet, everyday gestures. For many Filipino dads, love looks like picking up the kids from school despite a long workday, bringing home food for the family, fixing things around the house, or simply making time to share a meal. While they may not always say “I love you” out loud, their actions often speak louder than words.

This Father’s Day, Mang Inasal celebrates the many ways fathers express their love—from quality time and acts of service to shared experiences that bring families closer together.

Celebrating the Art of Seafood

Throughout his extensive global culinary career, Chef Oliver "Oli" Buenviaje, who lists Sorsogon, Bicol as his place of birth, has been associated with Michelin multi-starred seafood restaurants of impeccable quality and renown. So it comes as no surprise that his homecoming to the Philippines would entail the modernizing and upgrade of the ‘dampa’ dining concept. Set to open its doors in August 2026 at Gateway Mall 2, Araneta City; Seafood 8 by Olio’s promises to be game-changer, elevating how fresh seafood can be enjoyed in our dining landscape.

Dampa is the original ‘market to table’ food experience, where you select and buy raw, fresh seafood, as one would in a traditional wet market; and then have on-site kitchens prepare and cook the dishes according to your liking. Seafood 8 will elevate this concept, and bring the ‘dampa’ to the Mall, where the crowds are on a regular basis, all days of the week.
