As this cuisine grows popular here and around the world, it also introduces Thai brands that bears the signature flavors from Siam. Just recently Black Canyon Coffee, one of the most successful Thai names in coffee and dining, opens its very first branch for the Philippine market.
Moving away from the typical structure of coffee today, Black Canyon Coffee has made its name its concept of being full service casual dining coffee place that serves not only a wide range of specialty coffee drinks and healthy Thai and international food items. Your eyes will be in for a treat as you browse through the array of dishes that Black Canyon Coffee has to offer and your taste buds will definitely not be disappointed.
Take your pick from signature Thai dished such their award-winning Pad Thai and spicy Tom Yum Soup all the way to other international or Asian-fusion soups, pastas, steaks, noodles, salads, sandwiches, and various rice dishes. You can also rest assured that the taste is the same as the Thailand branches because Black Canyon Coffee prides itself on its very strict and consistent measurements of ingredients for every dish to preserve food quality. You can also indulge in any of Black Canyon Coffee's 24 specialty coffee drinks and 40 special beverages, especially their "Black Canyon Iced Coffee" - a special blend of pure Arabica coffee with two kinds of milk and plenty of ice.
Black Canyon Coffee has over 220 branches in Thailand alone, not mention their other branches on various locations in Asia. The success of the brand has always been hinged on its unique formula of food quality, food variety, location, and concept. With this in mind, Mr. Pravit Chitnarapong (CEO of Black Canyon Coffee Thailand Co. Ltd) and Mrs. Wilma Dy ( President of the Royal Thai Food Philippines Inc.) recognized an opportunity of Bringing Black Canyon Coffee of the Philippines to cater to the very Filipino culture of food enjoyment. Black Canyon Coffee also features a rare mix of large portons yet very reasonable prices providing customer great value for their money.
I attended their Bloggers' Feast which let us taste their authentic Thai servings. For my beverage, I tried Choco Glacier, which way very creamy ice cream and a unique chocolate flavor with the right sweetness which Filipinos like.
Then we were given their signature dishes. Though a caution that some of them are spicy same as if it was prepared in Thailand. But not really super spicy, which I say is just right.
Pad Thai - this award winning dish and a popular dish in Thailand is made from rice noodles and mixed with flavors and shrimp. Its actually addictive beacuse there is that mixture of flavors and textures. This is our HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for this stop because this is the most memorable among the dishes.
Green Curry - As a curry lover, this one is for the record. The spice level was just right not to overpower the curry flavor thus leaving a rich texture and also some "kick" on your first sip.
Deep-Fried Prawns in Tamarind Sauce - This is not tempura but it is also deep fried with a different coating and then poured with sweet spicy tamarind sauce which indeed enhances the flavor.
Grilled Black Pepper Salmon Salad - for the diet conscious, and health buffs this salad provides that great mixture of vegetables and protein at a affordable price.
We also had a taste of their desserts the Thin roof and the Premium Mocha Chips which goes well after the spicy dishes. Thin roof has ice cream and a layer of whipped cream and bread sticks on top and nuts and fudge at the bottom. Premium Mocha comes in a mug that has choco wafer bars and with ice cream, fudge and nuts. There are also a lot of pastries available in the restaurant. And a surprizing fact about Black Canyon Coffee is that their prices are very reasonable and sometimes even affordable compared to regular restaurants.
Fried Sesame Pork Strips - Fried pork strips with sesame and some lettuce, a great appetizer I must say. With the chewy pork and fresh greens makes it a great way to start a feast.
Green Curry - As a curry lover, this one is for the record. The spice level was just right not to overpower the curry flavor thus leaving a rich texture and also some "kick" on your first sip.
Tom Yum Soup - hailed as the national dish of Thailand, this is no ordinary dish as it has this spicy-sour tatse similar to our sinigang but with a lot of chilis. Though I am not a spicy lover, I enjoyed siping the soup at it has this great kick and have the same taste and spiciness just like in Thailand.
Black Canyon Coffee is now open at SM Southmall, Las Pinas City at the Food Strip. For more pictures check out the Fudfyt page and visit their facebook page now.
