Calata Corporation Makes A New Delicious Guinness World Record!

Pinoys love food and we do excel with it in many ways, from cuisine, style, fusion and even the ingredients used. And one of the most celebrated Filipino food, the Lechon has been the star of many fiestas, weddings, anniversaries and life events. Calata Corporation is one of the largest agribusiness conglomerates in the country, recently mounted a grand “Lechon Party”, achieving a Guinness World Record on the largest serving of roast pork. Held at the Liwasang Aurora, Quezon City Memorial Circle, this event also served as celebratory feast and an early Christmas treat for the less privileged residents of Metro Manila, as part of the company’s 16th anniversary.

Calata Corporation is the largest retailer and distributor of top agrochemical brands, feeds, fertilizers, veterinary medicines and seeds throughout the country. Calata Corporation also owns and operates a chain of retail stores named AGRI, the largest retailer of the country’s choice brands such as AGRI Crop Protection, Heisenberg veterinary medicines, Thomson and Hine, as well as Ivansmith agrochemicals.

With thousands of lechon chopped and weighed, the general public was invited to get stubs to have a taste of the lechon. And they came in thousands with family, and friends lined up to get a taste of lechon which some considers a luxury. The event was also graced by kapuso stars like Glaiza de Castro,  Derrick Monasterio, and Kristopher Martin who provided entertainment for the crowd who is also awaiting the official decision form the Guinness adjudicator. 

The Guinness World Record on the largest serving of roast pork was held by Mexico where they served 3,094.2 kilos of cochinita pibil, a popular roast pork dish in its Yucatan region. Calata Corporation topped the record by serving 4,046 kilos of the country’s well-loved version of roast pork – the lechon.

And when all the lechon has been accounted for, the official numbers were in, Calata Corporation made a new world record for the largest serving of Roast Pork (lechon) with 4046KG in total! And with this victory, the Lechon Party started with the lines for claiming swarmed by the public with plates of lechon!
