Taiwanese brand Gulu Gulu has opened their first store here in the Philippines located at SM Savemore, Nagtahan, Manila. This move came just in time where everyone is going crazy about milk tea.
But more than just milk tea, they are also known for their takoyaki which comes with different toppings. The combination of the two is interesting expecially with both are high demand on the go food items by Filipinos.
But let'e get to know first about Gulu Gulu. It started with it's founder Mr. Guo Weixiong who came from Guangzhou, China. He wanted to start a business related to food, which led him to observe and ressearch about Taiwanese eating habits. He stumbled upon the word "Gulo Gulo" from the sound made when sipping milk tea.
With this in mind, he ventured to open a business of milk tea and takoyaki (octopus balls) in 1997 and steadily it grew across Taiwan in more than 50 cities. Now having more than 500 stores, they have also expanded into several countries in Asia.
Now they finally have their first store in the country, they will take a shot with the milk tea-loving patrons and foodies with their menu. The challenge for them if thier customers embrace the combination or will just stick to drinks or takoyaki.
The first branch has a coffee shop vibe with stylish designs and homey feel. It does feel like a perfect place to enjoy your food and drinks with friends or family.
